Brotherly Love

Last weekend, Ryan was able to get out and enjoy game night at a friends house

As the weekend progressed, Ryan just didn't have the same peppiness he once had. He went in for some lab work and sure enough...

it was time for some blood.

Holding his catheter for the nurses to hook up his IV

There's the good ole' Groshong Catheter- makes for much fewer needle pricks!

Our reading material during the blood transfusion\

Ryan and his "ball and chain"

Although it is not a result of the blood transfusion, Ryan has been running a fever ever since he received the blood. The fevers have been getting higher each day and more of the cancer symptoms are creeping back. He isn't feeling very well now.
Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Ryan wanted to give one more "THANK YOU" and "Goodbye" to his Doctor, nurses and the staff at Arizona Oncology

Shirley and Kerry- AMAZING nurses!
Thank you...THANK YOU...Thank you

Bye

See you in December.

(Ryan's care will now be in the hands of the oncologists at UMC)

Thursday came and it was time for Ryan and his little brother Mitchell to head over to UMC for some testing.

First they met with the transplant coordinator, then they were off to the hospital for x-rays, blood work, physicals, scans and pulmonary function tests.

Ryan manages to crack a smile behind the mask.
20 vials of blood later, the boys were done.
*****
Thank you Mitchell for all you are doing for Ryan.
We Love you

What Cancer CANNOT do
Cancer is so limited...
It cannot cripple Love.
It cannot shatter Hope.
It cannot corrode Faith.
It cannot destroy Peace.
It cannot kill Friendship.
It cannot suppress Memories.
It cannot silence Courage.
It cannot invade the Soul.
It cannot steal Eternal Life.
It cannot conquer the Spirit.

You are in our thoughts, prayers, and fast yesterday! What an amazing brother you have!! I can't believe how grown up he looks, seems like he should be a little boy still, time flys.

Love the post....so many great pics of Ryan and Mitchell, too.....I don't think he realizes the magnitude of what he is doing...so amazing! I know Ryan has been feeling so sick the last few days, so it's good to reflect on some of the really good days he had for a while there.....you are in our thoughts and prayers DAILY! P.S. Ryan does not look too happy to be at game night! :)

This is by far my favorite blog to read right now. I know you said Ryan's not feeling so hot right now, but he's looking great! It looks like he started to fill out a little again and look more like himself. What an awesome, amazing, rare gift that his brother is able to give him with the transplant, and what a blessing! You guys are fighters and I am praying for you all every day. Ryan, keep that smile on your face and keep figthing! Margie, keep up the optimism and updates. You're all amazing to me!!

That's no good that the fever is back--I hope (and will be praying) that it clears up quickly. It seems that you aren't letting it or anything get you down--keep it up!! You can do it! We love you!

What a touching poem---it made so much emotion swell up in my heart. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. It is in these moments one sees their greatest strengths and weaknesses. All I see is strength in your family. I love you guys!

Ryan,

I wanted you to know Cortney has always treasured your friendship. We have been concerned and had you in our thoughts and prayers. It doesn't really matter but Cortney found the poem you are referring to. I know she was led to it by the Holy Ghost to include it in her families gift to you. Everytime I think of you Ryan I think of Alma 7:11-12. I know the Savior Ryan. I know he knows you. He feels after you and succors you with a peace that passeth all understanding. A peace that cannot be conquered by death, hell, the devil or even endless torment of afliction in a fallen world. The power of Christ, the Eternal Physician, the Prince of Peace supplants that greatest darkess. As you endure this trial of faith I invite you to envision the Savior smiling with open arms and may Christ lift you up! His power, His light, His Will and the Love he has for you individually with cause you to sng anthems of redeeming Grace.

Here is a poem I wrote about the Savior and his power to succor:

What Passeth All Understanding?

In darkest night and chilling fear
The tide of life o’er takes us
To linger on in doubts repose
Replacing Heaven’s chorus
The elements of mortal life
Displaced our fallen tissue
Succumbs to pain and withers
Never in life yet to renew
Infirmity then rears its head
The doctrine of a fallen world
Into the long nights doubtful watch
Our mind and spirit quickly hurled
To ask but why the question drops
Into the echo of time’s halls
Then heard aloud in whispers hush
Of everything the soul recalls
From thrones of glory given grace
To overcome by His hand
To touch a nails inflicted wound
Allows the heart to understand
In happenstance then comes to know
The blood from every pores release
Allows each hallowed child to feel
The power of enduring peace
The road is long and steep the climb
Yet not alone in every step
The Friend and Brother ever there
There is no doubt His promise kept
Keep learning by His gentle hand
In trials long and arid drought
To listen and to understand
Then never let His light go out
Walking in His meek repose
As storms yet rage still doubt and fear
Yet won’t give in, persistence lives
As strengthened by His healing tear
The One who holds the worlds in sway
Who condescended through His love
Has loosed the bands of death and hell
So families soar with God above
The Angels who raise strains of praise
In testifying of a place
Where in the midst of life’s despair
We’re captured by His warm embrace
Then quickened by the piercing light
That fills our soul illuminates
As knowledge grows from seeds of faith
The fear and doubt then dissipates
To cast our eyes outside the veil
Beholding ever present there
How small and quick the journey here
Gives hope to let the soul repair
The succor of redeeming grace
A pure and quiet comfort near
That nothing can delay the time
When from the skies He does appear
So after every test is passed
Abiding deep in Zion’s arms
There comes a day with Him we dwell
Forever sheltered from all harms
When enemies are all destroyed
Then we will know what now we feel
The raging of the world erased
As now our souls are finally still
When in remembrance we partake
Of memories question then we see
What passeth all understanding…
…His peace that fills eternity.
