A telling fortune...

After a soccer-filled day, Ryan had a special visit from his boss, Dr. Dancho. Dr. Dancho presented Ryan with a certificate of completion of his 1st year of his residency.

With his first year under his belt, he could officially perform surgery.

Way to GO Ry!

Ryan showing the family his certificate
Ryan was excited and proud of a 1st year well done. It meant a lot for him to receive the certificate. He was so happy that he wanted to go out and celebrate and treat everyone for dinner. He was craving Chinese... so off we went for some YUMMY Chinese food.

Ry and his little sis, Jessica

Ry and his sister, Jennifer

Everyone reading their fortunes

Then Ryan picks up his fortune.
(Keep in mind that there was 12 of us at the restaurant)
Out of the 12 fortunes, this is the one Ryan picked and it read:
After Ryan read this, I started crying and Hallie says, "That's right Daddy, you're almost to heaven!"
Ryan looked up at her with a smile on his face and said, "Yup..."

I keep the fortune in my wallet and take a look at it now and then.
He IS there...
and that knowledge brings so much comfort and peace.

~Love You~

FOREVER TEAM RYAN

Everytime I read your blog I sob and I get goosebumps. I am so glad that you are continuing this on.
It seems like kids are more in tune with what's going on than we give them credit for. This is such a beautiful story. I absolutely love it!

Thanks for sharing this beautiful story. It brings back so many memories of our son-in-law. I think the veil is very thin. Children seem to remember so much more than we give them credit for. It's to bad that we don't help to keep those memories alive in them better.

It seems that children always have a different perspective on things. It's always so simple and true. And they always believe it and trust it. When my dad died, it WAS so simple. He was in heaven with Jesus and Heavenly Father. It never bothered me. I remember going to my 4th grade christmas party (he died Dec 20) and I remember seeing my teacher crying a little-she was in our ward and knew us-and so I thought something was wrong with me because I wasn't crying. So I asked to go to the bathroom and I looked in the mirror and tried to cry lol. And I just couldn't. I thought about dad in heaven, happy and lookin down on me and I knew he was laughing at me for trying to cry. I started laughing too and went back to the party. There's a reason we are told to have "faith like a little child". We have absolute faith when we are children and don't question. I'm so glad Hallie was able to recognize the truth of the statement and say it smiling. She understands. It doesn't stop us from missing them but it does bring an inner peace we otherwise wouldn't have.
LOVE YOU!!!

It is amazing to see all the ways that Heavenly Father was speaking to Ryan as he approached the end of his earthly journey. Aside from the fortune, which is just chills all over COOL, I also love that Ryan got that certificate. Even though Ryan didn't have the chance to build his own practice and build a lifelong career as a podiatrist, he did what was most imnportant. He proved to his Father in Heaven that he would have worked hard and provided for his family. I am so happy that he was given a physical reminder of that before he left this earth. A job is just temporal, but hard work and loyalty to the family..those principles are eternal. I am loving these posts Margie!!!

In sacrament today the speaker said, "remember, Everything that happens was meant to happen...there is no such thing as 'Chance' or 'Luck' when the lord is involved." What a perfect fortune, Ryan was meant to get that one.

Reading through the Ryan's final days here on Earth with your family was bittersweet. Such strength, love, faith, and sadness and joy in your words, Margie. I don't really have the right words to say how I feel knowing what's happened to your family, but I do know you do inspire many things and I feel so much love in your posts. I love you!

Thank you for sharing your amazing memories with all of us. I had the pleasure of serving with your husband. He was a very inspiring missionary to around and to watch him teach the gospel.

That note that he received isnt the first time he was given that phase though. When Ryan was getting ready to go home right before Christmas I had the pleasure of serving with him. And I told him those same words. "You are almost there now what Ryan?" He looked at me and smiled and he goes "Go home, meet my wife and start a family, go to school..."

Thank you for sharing your moments and memories.
